Jaime's last weekend in Ghana.
We chose the material, and designed these dresses, and they were made for us by local seamstresses!

Sarah and I were in the trotro on the way to the seamstress this morning when a huge storm blew up, dark grey clouds, whirling dusty winds and heavy rain.
I turn to the lady next to me and say- "Do you have tornados in Ghana?"
Another man in the trotro says, "Yes, we are wiping it" refering to the windscreen,ok, so still no idea.
Later on at the seamstress.
We get hungry and decide to go find some fufu, there is a chop bar (local outdoor restaurant) accross the street. We wonder over and ask the lady inside if they have fufu, "what?" she says, "FU-FU" we say, "ohhhh, hmmm no its finished" "ok, do you know where we can get some?" .. "down the street, accross the road, past where they cut the glass" "medasi" we say (thank you) and head off.
We cross the street and find the glass cutting place, there is glass everywhere all over the ground, shards of it, sticking out of the mud. I can't help but think about the whirling winds from only an hour early, what they could have done with the glass.
Just around the corner we find the chop bar and go inside. We ask if they have fufu, and again we get a blank stare. FUFU?! ahhh yes, they have it. I know how to say I'm going to buy fish in Twi, but I try to rearrange the words to say, we dont want fish, we want goat. (I dont know the word for goat though).
The servings are always HUGE, so we share, but sharing is so hard, they always bring out an extra bowl. The fufu with goat and light soup was aye de pa (delicious) as always!
Later on...
Sarah needs to pee.
So we ask the seamstress, "where can we pee?" .....blank look.
"where can we use the bathroom" ....blank look.
"where can we urinate" ahhh that worked... there is flurry in the shop but all we want is to be pointed in the right direction.. a small blue bucket with a lid is produced, like the kind you would use as a kid to make sand castles at the beach, we look at each other and shake our heads, no way is she peeing in the shop!
Sarah decides to leave, she figures there has to be somewhere around here to pee..
I was distracted when she returned.. a little while later I ask, "did you pee?"
She says "yes, I found an area that was, well, completely out in the open, but there werent any people around"
:) ... Just your average day in Ghana .. 3 sleeps left
(stay tuned for update 4- it's going to be a big one folks.. 1,500 words in and I'm only up to last Christmas!)
